THEY SAY AMONG THE INNOCENT BYSTANDERS SHOT IS THE 33-YEAR-OLD CLERK SAMAR, LIKELY JUST IN THE WAY, CLEANING THE FLOOR NEAR THE END OF HIS SHIFT, WHEN A BULLET SHATTERED HIS ANKLE. HE’S CALLING ME I NEED HELP, I GOT SHOT IN MY LEG. HIS INJURED EMPLOYEE JOINED HIM BEHIND THE COUNTER BY DRAGGING HIMSELF THERE. I LAID DOWN ON THE GROUND. I TOOK A TOWEL. I PUT IT ON HIS LEG.
